Everything About California's 2025 Ban
2025, California residents might just never be able to purchase flavored vapes, which literally means CA residents might as well stop vaping.
Read More >>How many puffs before I need to change my coil? As a general guideline, most coils are designed to last for several hundred to several thousand puffs before needing to be replaced, although this can vary greatly depending on factors such as coil type, wattage settings, e-liquid composition and personal vaping habits.
The best ones to go for flavour wise are clapton, titanium (if you prefer vaping with TC mode) or an Alien coil. The sweet spot for getting a balance of vapour and flavour is around 0.3ohms. Depending on your coil choice you'll want to up the wattage from anywhere between 50 and 100 watts.
What vape wattage gives the best flavour? The perfect balance of vapour and flavour lies somewhere between 50 and 100 watts, depending on your choice of coil. Clapton and Alien coils tend to require a bit more power to ramp up, so you'll want to increase the wattage if you're using either of these options.
A low vape wattage means vaping at a decreased power level (and, therefore, less intense temperatures). While this will undoubtedly prolong your battery life and increase the overall life expectancy of your device in general, lower burn temperatures will result in less vaporisation and a weaker vaping experience.
Low ohmic coils produce more vapour and flavour. High ohmic coils produce less vapour and have a more muted flavour. In general, most vapers will choose coils with a specification between 0.9 and 1.8 ohms, with 1.0 ohms being the most popular choice.
For mouth-to-lung vaping, pair high-resistance coils with a wattage of 7-20W. For direct-to-lung inhaling, pair low-resistance coils with a wattage of 40W or more.
If you use a coil of around 1.0 to 1.2 ohms, you'll get a decent nicotine hit and great flavour. For smokers who get through 5 to 10 cigarettes a day: You're still a 'moderate smoker' at this level and something like 6mg or 10mg will work for you.
Switching to a lower output wattage will reduce the amount of e-liquid you pass through. However, you will not produce as much vapour. Play around with the settings to find the right balance so you can reduce the amount of e-liquid you go through and still get a quality draw.
As Nicotine Salts don't produce much vapour so they don't need as much wattage to be vaporised. For vaping 50/50 Nicotine Salts like Pod Salt, we recommend devices that offer MTL-style vaping. These want to be low-wattage devices that use 10-20 watts of power with a medium to tight draw, 0.8-1.2ohm resistance.
If your vape gear works with pods or cartridges and you suddenly find there's no flavour from your vape, the e-juice might be running low or have run out. It's time to swap it out for a new pod or cartridge and see if you get your e-juice taste again.
Continued dry hits can shorten the life of the coil and affect its performance. It's important to ensure proper saturation of the e-liquid to avoid dry hits and maintain the longevity of the coil.
This can burn out your coil! If you vape a lot in a short period of time, you can burn out the coil by not giving it enough time to absorb some e-liquid. The coil will also get too hot and start to burn. We recommend taking about 3-5 puffs before letting the device sit for a few minutes.
Airflow also has no effect on coil life. The things that tend to shorten the life of a coil are poor wicking (we have some advice on wicking here) and/or flooding your coil. Over time, if you vape with a flooded coil, you will get a much faster build-up of gunk, which will eventually ruin the coil.
A burnt out coil will almost always have a build-up of browned e-juice 'gunk'. With replaceable coils, you may be able to see the same darkened burnt juice around the holes of the coil. There are a few steps you can take before each vaping session to minimise the risk of coil burnout: Prime your coils.
If you've been using the coil in your vape for a while and it tastes burnt, it may need to be replaced. It's important to change your coil regularly to ensure your vape is working at its best and producing the optimum vapour and flavour experience.
Hand in hand with consistency, is longer lasting coils. As there are no hot spots to burn your wicking material, your coils can last longer with mesh.
Your Coil Is Used Up
If you're a heavy vaper, using your e-cig many times a day. You might need to change the coil every couple of days. If you are a regular vaper but not particularly heavy, it could last a week or two. Irregular or casual vapers might find they need only change their coil every four weeks.
